Rev. Dr. Lee C. Winfrey Sr., is the 3rd of 4 children, born June 16, 1965 in Chicago, IL to the delight of Deacon James L. Winfrey (deceased) and Emma L. Winfrey. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord the summer of 1972 at the Mt Zion MB Church of Chicago In 1982 his family’s membership moved to Macedonia of Roseland MB Church of Chicago. In March of 2000, he moved his membership to St Paul MB Church of Chicago. He accepted his call into the preaching ministry in November 2002, was licensed in December 2002, and ordained in May 2006 when he assumed his first pastoral assignment at New Prospect MB Church of Chicago IL. He served there faithfully until January 2015 when God called him to relocate to Detroit, MI to serve his 2nd pastoral assignment at Unity Baptist Church of Detroit. Pastor Winfrey served UBC passionately and faithfully for three years. On Palm Sunday 2018, the Lord moved and orchestrated the miracle of calling him to his 3rd pastoral assignment becoming the organizing pastor of Partakers Church Baptist of Detroit, MI. With each assignments the Lord brought tremendous growth spiritually, numerically, and financially along with transformations and community impact that only a God like ours could do!

He received his formal training in the Chicago Public School System. He studied theology at the Chicago Baptist Institute from November of 2002 until August 2004. From there, his theological education continued at Life Christian University, Tampa Florida in September of 2004 where he has since graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Theology, Masters of Theology, and in November of 2011, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with an earned Doctor of Ministry - Theology.

 

In September 2019, Dr. Winfrey published his first book: “What To Do When You’ve Been Given a Bad Hand.” In June 2023 The Lord, and Dr. Winfrey’s love for pastors moved him to organize and start a workshop called “Pastors Matter Too” designed to help, train, and encourage pastors, church leaders, and parishioners in understanding the biblical importance and impact of pastors, how they should be treated and honored in the churches they lead, as well as the need to understand the call of a pastor from the spiritual and natural perspective.

 

He’s a faithful bible teacher, a dynamic and anointed preacher of the gospel with a sincere heart for God’s people. He’s a pastor of pastors, trainer of preachers, developer of disciples, and evangelist for the lost and unchurched in a multi-generational environment. He believes your lifestyle preaches the greatest sermons. He’s 1st Vice Moderator of the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist District Association of Detroit, MI. He’s a man of integrity with a true servant’s heart and Christian character whose transparent style of leadership has helped people receive God’s forgiveness, restoration, and begin to envision themselves as Christ sees them. He possesses a loving, compassionate character, along with a great sense of humor.

Dr. Winfrey has been married for over 31 years to his wonderful, beautiful, fine wife Kimberly and together they have 3 children and 1 grandchild.

His foundational Scripture is recorded in Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”
